PEP Talk - let's talk about body confidence - 8 September

It can be hard to know how to respond when a child says negative things about the way they look, particularly when so many adults struggle with their own body esteem.

The experts from the Butterfly Foundation will provide a relaxed and informative seminar for parents/carers on practical strategies for supporting positive body image in children and teens.

Led by skilled facilitator Nicki Isaacs, you will hear about:

  • An overview of body image and the importance of prevention.
  • The spectrum of body and eating issues.
  • Key influence on body image, including social media.
  • The impact of diet culture and weight stigma.
  • Busting common myths around eating disorders.
  • Reducing appearance talk and how to respond when a child expresses negativity towards themselves/others.
  • The power of role modelling positive body image and behaviours
  • Understanding warning signs and the importance of early intervention.

Date: Wednesday, 8 September

Time: 7.00pm to 8.30pm

Venue: Virtual Event

Adult must-read books

Kathryn Schravemade, Head of Library and Digital Resourcing

Here are this month's Library recommendations for must-read books for parents!

Connor's Run

Connor’s Run is in just 11 days! Year 10 students will be pairing up and running 10km for a good cause (all within their 5 km zone, two-hour exercise time limit, and at a COVID-safe distance).

Now is the perfect time to make a donation to Connor's Run as all donations are currently being matched.

The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation supports brain matters in the areas of research, care and development, to fund science to end paediatric brain cancer and support patients in the meantime.

Donations can be big or small and are optional  - if you are able to donate and this cause resonates with you, we would love your support.
