Year 8 Girls Softball
On Wednesday 2 May, eleven Year 8 girls played in the Northern Metropolitan Region for Softball at Mill Park Reserve. There were 5 teams in the competition for the day split into 2 pools. Aitken College competed against Montmorency.
- Game 1 - Aitken v Montmorency - Aitken lost 8-13 runs
This 3 innings game was neck and neck at the end of the first innings with both teams making 7 runs before the changeover. Aitken started the second fielding innings strong by eliminating the first 2 batters and forcing Montmorency to a 3 run innings. However, Montmorency fought back and eliminated Aitken’s first 3 batters. Aitken tried to fight back, but with another 3 run innings from Montmorency it was hard to catch up. It was hard to find a balance today with a lot of outstanding moments and a lot of little mistakes; however, the fight the girls showed throughout the entire game was inspirational and why these girls were in the team. I hope to see all of them participating in softball again next year.
Thank you Olivia B, Sofia C, Shaelyn M, Monique S, Savannah B, Suna E, Mia P, Claire H, Monica C, Alyssa H, Sophie M and Olivia C.
