College Middle School Play
Congratulations to the students from Years 7-10 who were involved in presenting this year’s Middle School production, 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'. Thanks to those staff who assisted them, in particular, the Director, Ms Jacqueline Flood, as well as Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong, Ms Laura-Anne Portella, Mr Tom Thorneycroft, Mr Daniel Pedersen and all the staff who assisted with Front of House. Thank you also to the parents, for supporting the students in this. The Middle School Play has grown to be a highly memorable experience for the students involved and often creates a springboard into further involvement in Performing Arts, classes and events.
VCE Theatre Studies Play
This year’s VCE Theatre Studies play opens next week for the first of three performances. 'The Boat' combines a number of stories which provides a snapshot of Australian society across the 1900's. Connecting the stories together is the lasting bond between a grandfather and his grandson. The grandson takes a journey back through history where he first meets Zachary, an American author seeking his next great adventure. Then the story moves to outback NSW during World War II where the women and children who were left behind long for the return of their husbands and sons. Finally, we travel to a seaside park where a group of hippies have taken up residence in an attempt to escape their responsibilities.
I encourage you to come along to one of three performances starting at 7.30pm on Thursday 17 May, 3.30pm on Friday 18 May and finally 7.30pm on Saturday 19 May. Tickets are $16.50 adults, $11.00 students/children or a family of four for $55.00 (plus booking fees) at: https://www.trybooking.com/UGEF
Brass Bedlam
This week, Cumberland students were entertained by touring performers, Brass Bedlam. Throughout the one-hour presentation, they learnt about the way instruments like trumpets and horns work, the fun things you can do and a little on the history and origins of some instruments. There was much excitement and a bit of singing as familiar tunes were played. Thanks to Ms Beth Thomson and Miss Stephanie Pace for organising the incursion.
