2019 'Shining a Light' Youth Forum

On Monday 19 August, sixteen of our student leaders attended the Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee Youth Forum, ‘Shining a Light’ at Box Hill Town Hall. The day was a fantastic opportunity for local high school students to come together and be involved in interactive workshops focusing on themes such as:

  • Mental health
  • Body image
  • Safety in the community
  • Healthy relationships
  • Healthy lifestyle choices (drugs, alcohol, harm minimisation)
  • Employment
  • Further study

Our leaders found the day to be highly engaging and beneficial. Koonung Secondary College would like to thank the Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee for organising this forum, and to our student leaders for their attendance and contributions on the day.

Flu Season is here!

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS.

Please be aware that the 'flu season has struck. I have had to send students home with the early symptoms of the 'flu. PLEASE do not send your student to school when they are not feeling well in the morning. Inevitably they feel worse as the day goes on and I have to interrupt your day to organise them to get home.

The student's health is a great concern to all here at Koonung and we want to minimise the spread of all virus, especially the Influenza virus. Your cooperation with this would be greatly appreciated.

Please remind your student to wash their hands frequently and to cough or sneeze into their elbow to help minimize any droplet spread of virus.

Also, just a reminder to keep your contact details and your back up contact details up to date.
