Living with Strength and Kindliness

Season of Creation 2019
From 1st September to 4th October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Catholics will join other major Christian denominations worldwide to celebrate the Season of Creation, with prayer and action to protect creation. It is a unique time to reflect on and strengthen our role as stewards of God’s creation,
‘our common home’.
This week, during morning prayer, our students have been praying in gratitude for our amazing and mysterious blue planet. They have also been praying for its protection.
Pope Francis clearly addresses our youth and calls them forward to make the changes that will ensure our planet is cared for into the future.
He makes no concessions about the current state of our natural world, calling it an ecological crisis. In this spirit, the Laudato Si Generation youth organisation has been formed worldwide. See more about it here to discuss with your student.
I include here some words from Pope Francis for us all to reflect on:
"As Christians we wish to contribute to resolving the ecological crisis which humanity is presently experiencing …keep in mind that, for believers in Jesus Christ, the Word of God who became man for our sake, the life of the spirit is not dissociated from the body or from nature or from worldly realities, but lived in and with them, in communion with all that surrounds us" (Laudato Si’, 216).
"The ecological crisis thus summons us to a profound spiritual conversion...“living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience" (Laudato Si’, 216-217)
Our youth is our natural earth’s greatest hope. Let’s get behind them.
Blessings
