COLLABORATIVE ART TASK WITH OUR SPANISH SISTER SCHOOL
Since early last year, we have been working with our Spanish Sister School on a very exciting Collaborative Arts project. The project is an evolving notion of communication through art as a medium that surpasses the language barrier as well as strengthening our bond through art.
The idea was based on a drawing game that Surrealist artists used to play back in the early 1900s. We sent 7 pieces of paper that were each folded into 4 sections to Spain, where they created one artwork on each side, leaving 3 blank areas for later artworks. They then sent their artworks back to us, and we have created an artwork next to theirs. On this page you can see the pairs of artworks so far - one is by a McKinnon student the other is by a student from Spain.
We are now nearly ready to send the artworks back to Spain, so they can create an artwork next to ours, before we get one last turn at adding another artwork.
The project has been really fun and exciting to see the different ideas that various students have portrayed and the difference between our art and the Spanish art. We are really looking forward to seeing the next lot of artworks that our Sister School creates.
These artworks are now on display in the glass cabinets in the library foyer for the next few weeks.
Congratulations to the very talented arts students who have contributed to the project so far - Sophie Sjostrom, Isabella Blumberg, Deme Lu, Alison Williams, Demeke Durant, Ruby Comte, Chelsie Loader, Kristen Cartledge, Nikki Charters, Shakya Lahrech, Immy Hooper-Duffy, Chelsea Martin, Sasha Aduk, Jeme Lyu, Omer Gonen and Ally Weinberger.
