Social Inclusion Excursion

The VCAL Team recently travelled to Melbourne to volunteer at Fareshare, a food rescue enterprise that distributes packaged meals to people in need.

Students worked in an industrial kitchen, preparing, cooking, packaging and cleaning up for a total of eight hours. They demonstrated effective teamwork and an impressive work ethic. Brooke Mills was given a special award by the shift leaders for her exceptional contribution in the kitchen.

The group were also welcomed for breakfast at the Brigidine  Ministry Centre by Sister Brigid Arthur so that they could learn a little about the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project.

They also visited the The Big Issue and come away with a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusion, connection and justice in our daily interactions.
