Italian Study Tour

The 2019 Italian tour was one of the greatest things I have experienced in my life. Italy is an amazing country and the places we were fortunate enough to go to were impeccable. My personal favourite place to go to was Pesaro, a small Italian city with our hotel view being right on the shore of the beach.

Italy taught me to feel more positive about life and to enjoy the little things more often such as walking down the street of a new town or sight-seeing around the country. I was surprised about how many people were there and what their culture involves. They are very different to Australians and people act differently.

Traveling was great and I was never bored or homesick on the trip at all, since every day was action packed and full of surprises.

Lastly, I would say to anyone who would like to do the next Italian Study Tour, go for it! It is an experience of a life time and everyone I was with on the trip enjoyed themselves. I think I would speak for everyone in saying that we would definitely love to go back.

I loved being able to travel in a different country with friends. I also loved eating lots of pizza, pasta and most importantly, gelato!

I learnt about how old Italy actually is. I already knew this but it finally got put into perspective seeing all of the old Roman buildings.

I learnt that I can travel without my family and not get home sick.

I was surprised when we first arrived in Rome at how massive every building was. I was also surprised at how many people could speak English.

I have been changed in the fact that I am now aware of how long humans have been around and using innovative systems like sewage and bread ovens. And, the fact that they could build giant buildings when they didn’t have any access to cranes or any machinery.

I would tell someone considering going to Italy that they definitely should go. It is an amazing experience and you make great friends. The fact that you can actually travel internationally with friends in a school group is truly amazing.

I loved meeting all the kids on the tour. Although I go to school with them, I had not spoken to many of them before the trip and it was great becoming good mates with all of them. Now we are back, we still keep in touch and talk to each other about the trip and everything else. I did already know a few people before we left but it was still great getting to know the others.

I learnt that Italy is a lot older than I thought it was. I knew it was very old but when we found out how old some of the churches were that we visited, it was a shock. I also learnt that a lot more tourists go there than I first thought. Before I went I thought it was a country that not many people visited but after going there you can see how popular it really is.

Before going on the trip, I was not 100% sure if I was going to travel after school but after going to Italy I will definitely go travelling after I finish school and I am definitely going to go back to Italy. Both my brothers went travelling after school and they seemed to enjoy it a lot. Once I experienced it myself, I realised just how much fun it is.

The population of Italy was very surprising. I thought that it was going to be a lot less busy than it was but it was a lot more exciting because there were more people. There is also a lot of history behind all the famous land marks, not only because they are really old but what they were used for and how they were built was really amazing.

Being given the chance to travel has changed me in a lot of ways. It has changed the way I see home and where I have grown up. At the same time, it has changed the way I look at the rest of the world. I feel a lot more confident and I feel like it is going to be a lot easier to travel by myself now.

If you are considering going on the next Study Tour, make sure you take the most of every opportunity when it is given to you because you may not ever be able to go back there in your life.
