What's happening in the 3/4 classrooms

In Middle school, students have been investigating poetry. Having already learned about Haiku and Cinquain poetry, students were very eager to begin learning how to write rhyming poems. As part of this writing unit, Year 3/4 students explored the use of rhyming schemes, vocabulary and rhythm.

In Religious Education students discussed how they would show dignity to others if they were Prime Minister for the day. All Middle School students said that they would provide care for the homeless, make sure everyone had access to clean water, food and shelter, as well as having someone to support them if they are going through a challenging time. This discussion prompted students to reflect upon ways in which they can ‘love thy neighbour as thyself’, by treating others how they would want to be treated.

Students are continuing to explore their Inquiry topic of ‘What makes me a well being?’. This has incorporated all aspects of their well being including their mind, body and spirit. Throughout this unit, students are deepening their understanding of how to care for and foster their own and others’ wellbeing. Next week, we look forward to learning about nutrition and how that positively impacts their physical, emotional and cognitive well being.

As we approach the end of the year, the Middle School will be learning about Advent and Christmas, and are excited to welcome the joyful anticipation as they wait for the celebration of Jesus’ birth.
