Principal's Report

November  2020

Finally, we have all of our students and staff back on site. The school is abuzz again with classes, outdoor activities and sports, breakfast club, the ADP, the library and the canteen all in full swing. We farewelled our Year 12 Class of 2020 and their exams have now begun. Their graduation will be held at the College on Friday 27th November with the ceremony being live streamed to families.

Over the coming weeks we will be running assessment programs in literacy and numeracy which will help the teaching team to group students and plan for teaching and learning in 2021. We have decided that there will be no formal examination period for Years 9 to 11 students this year. We will be using the time to continue teaching the curriculum so that students have as many of the skills and as much of the knowledge they can attain to be ready for next year.

The timeline for the rest of the term will see the Year 11s have their last day of classes on Friday 20th November followed by the 2021 Early Commencement classes up until Tuesday 1st December. The last day of classes for Year 10s will be on Friday 27th November followed by 2021 Early Commencement up until Friday 4th December. Years 7 to 9 students will have regular classes until 4th December and this will be followed by special programs focused on student reflections, goal setting, school wide positive behaviour and health and wellbeing programs.  The End of Year Activities Program will run through week 10 and 11.

Students will receive their reports in the last week of school, via COMPASS. We are not able to conduct our annual Night of Excellence awards night, so students will receive their awards in the mail and be recognised in the last newsletter of the year.

Building Program

The Greensborough College Sporting Precinct is really taking shape now. The turf on the AFL oval will be laid in early December. The light towers have been installed and the running track around the perimeter is underway. The lower and middle level of the pavilion are under construction. The works are on target for practical completion on 1st April and the pavilion for early May.

The tender panel is currently meeting and assessing the tenders for the school buildings. There has been a slight delay, for exciting reasons, with a builder to be announced in the coming weeks.  More information about the project will be distributed once the tender panel has made its decision. The building site will be established in early December with works due for completion from August 2021.

Stay safe and stay well.
