EARLY COMMENCEMENT AT GREENSBOROUGH COLLEGE

It’s that time of year again, when students at Greensborough College participate in Early Commencement.

Dates:

  • Year 11 into 12 VCE – from Monday 23rd November to Tuesday 1st December (7 days)
  • Year 11 into 12 VCAL – from Monday 23rd November to Tuesday 1st December (5 days)
  • Year 10 into 11 VCE – from Monday 30th November to Friday 4th December (5 days)
  • Year 10 into 11 VCAL – from Monday 30th November to Friday 4th December (3 days)

Aim of the Early Commencement Program:

This program allows students pursuing VCE and VCAL pathways to hit the ground running.  During early commencement, students will become familiar with:

  • the content of their new courses and how the content will be assessed
  • expectations and demands of their pathway choices.

Attendance:

  • Students must attend Early Commencement as they would on any other school day.
  • Work on VCE Units 1 and 3 begins, and VCAL teachers start ticking off outcomes. Students won’t want to miss SAC and project preparation!
  • Holiday homework and novels for VCE English ordered through the book seller will be distributed in this time. If you’re not here- you’re already behind.
  • Also, participating in Early Commencement eases the transition for students returning to school in 2021, after the summer break.

What students will need:

  • Laptop
  • Ideally, a new exercise book for each subject
  • Stationery items

Teachers will provide copies of any content required from the new textbooks in Early Commencement as students may not have their 2021 textbooks yet.

Timetables:

Student timetables for Early Commencement will be available through Compass.

*If students do not have a class in Period 1, they are permitted to arrive at school later- in time for their first class of the day.

If students do not have class in Period 5 or in Period 6, they are permitted to leave school early.

Otherwise, students are expected to attend all timetabled classes, as normal.

We look forward to supporting our students in their first steps in their chosen VCE and VCAL pathways.
