Art and Design Evening

Although it wasn’t the Art and Design Exhibition that we planned to have, this year’s Live Visual Arts and Design Virtual Evening was definitely like no other!

Watching everyone’s works from the beginning of the development and the progression right through to the final product, was extremely insightful for not only students but staff and parents, who normally would only have the pleasure of viewing the end result. It was very enjoyable for all of us to put together our images of our progress, as well as to share the journey of creating it from beginning to end.

It was great to see the vast creativity of our year level and hear about everyone’s ideas. Every single design, piece and product exuded originality and truly displayed the creative minds of Kilbreda girls.

Although many of us were originally disappointed at not having the Art and Design Exhibition that we had looked forward to for so many years, the virtual event was truly a success and hopefully will open doorways for the potential of live events like this one in the future.

This year has been full of twists and turns, meaning that many great events in our College calendar looked slightly different.

Whilst the Art and Design Evening was not exactly what we had all envisioned at the beginning of this year, it allowed us to think of different ways that we could still celebrate the hard work of Studio Art, Media, Visual Communication Design and Product Design and Technology students. Unlike the usual annual Art and Design Exhibition, this year provided specifically senior folio students with the opportunity to explain their creative process and how it led to their final pieces. This meant that the audience was able to engage with students' process, more than they had prior.

Having the event live-streamed also meant that more people from the College community could join and watch what was a very memorable evening.
