Diwali celebrations

Last week, MGSC successfully celebrated Diwali Festival. (A bit earlier than the wider community due to exams starting this week.) The term of ‘Diwali’ or ‘Deepawali’ means that is the celebration of light, making a fresh start, and new beginnings because it is also the beginning of the year in the Hindu calendar! First of all, there was a poster competition.

Congratulations to Ananya Pradhan who won the competition. We appreciate Ananya's great efforts, and thanks to those who participate in this poster competition too!

Wednesday (4/11) , we ran a lunchtime workshop to make Diyas or Chuttis out of clay and decorating. There were some unique and pretty completed Diya. Please come to room 19 if you made one to collect yours!

Thursday (5/11), there was Rangoli chalk drawing outside the shade area near the Junior Learning Centre during the lunchtime. Templates were given to students to draw for reference. There were some beautiful and colourful chalk drawings related to Diwali. We also had some Indian music playing while students were drawing!

Friday (6/11) there was a lunchtime Henna workshop where students drew beautiful designs on themselves and their friends. Everyone had a great time.

Thank you to all the students who participated in these activities, and thanks to all the student volunteers and teachers who helped run these activities. Without your help we could not have celebrated Diwali successfully at MGSC 2020.

Happy Diwali for Saturday!
