Virtual Primary School visits
Over the past three weeks the Junior School has been running virtual lunchtime meetings for Grade 6 students who will be attending MGSC in 2021. The aim was to provide an opportunity for these primary school students to talk with current Year 7 students and a teacher about the transition into secondary school and to address any concerns they have.
Congratulations to the Year 7 students who have been involved in these sessions. They have done a wonderful job talking with the Grade 6 students and reassuring them that the transition to secondary school isn’t too bad!
Junior School Leaders
Over the next few weeks many Junior School students have been completing interviews, in front of a panel of teachers, for a leadership position for 2021. This takes a lot of courage from the students and can be quite an exciting but daunting experience. It has been great to see so many students apply for a position and put themselves forward to be involved in this process. Congratulations to all students who have done this.
Early finish
On Monday 30 November all Year 7 and 8 students will have an early finish and will go home after period 2. This will reduce the number of people on the grounds to accommodate some small tours for students who will be attending MGSC in Year 7 next year. College tours and our Open Evening were cancelled and COVID-19 restrictions have also impacted our traditional Orientation day held in December for transitioning students. It is hoped that this opportunity will assist 2021 Year 7 students and families to become more familiar with their secondary school.
Uniform reminders
Well done to all Junior School students who have been wearing the correct uniform with pride during this transition stage where either summer or winter uniform could be worn. Please note that students must now only wear their summer uniform. Black school shoes with blue socks should be worn.
If any student doesn't have the correct uniform, they should come to the Junior School Office at the start of the day to get a uniform pass.
