Cricket Report
Last week saw another positive week of cricket with the improvement shown across all sides. The only thing missing seems to be some decent weather, with cricket currently feeling more like a winter than a summer sport. Excitingly we also had some good news last week where we can increase our groups at training to reflect the players in each side. This will mean we can have 13 in the nets which will make training a lot easier.
Training will continue this week. Thank you again for registering your boys using the club’s Q code before each training session. I have had a few queries regarding club apparel. We are hopeful it should arrive by the end of the week.
Last week’s notable performers.

I take great pride in introducing our Boys’ Cricket captain for 2020/21. Fergus Roberts has been selected to represent the school as the Captain of Boys’ Cricket. I pay tribute to Ben McCure, for his legacy as the outgoing cricket captain. On behalf of The Hamilton and Alexandra College and the College Cricket Club, I thank Ben for his leadership and for being the role model he has been over the past two seasons. In what I hope to be a permanent fixture of the season to come, Fergus has provided an insight into himself as a CCC cricketer.
Name: Fergus Roberts
Batsman/Bowler/ Allrounder: Bowler
How long have you been playing for the CCC: I’ve been playing at the College Cricket Club since Year 8 when I started playing U16s.
Best thing about the CCC: The family connection between everyone and also the friendships that are made between the younger kids and adults. The senior players are so willing to help the junior cricketers out which is great.
Why do you play cricket: I play cricket because I enjoy the time spent with the older senior players and them passing their wisdom down onto me about the game. I also love taking wickets.
Favourite CCC player: Wombat (Lachie Patterson). He loves a good joke and loves spending time with the younger boys. He also does so much for the club.
Favourite Cricketing Moment: U15s Country Week. I took a wicket first ball in the first over opening the bowling in the final. Also winning that same Country Week
Biggest Influence on your career: My dad. He's helped me so much with the development of my game.
Favourite Australian player: Pat Cummins
In 20 years the 1 thing I hope to have accomplished in my career is: Given back to the College Cricket Club for all it has given me and take a “five for” on the home turf in a final for the CCC.
