Boarding

Experiencing the freedom

Last weekend our boarders enjoyed the freedom of travelling to Port Fairy for the afternoon. Albeit a little windy and cold, the boarders were keen to get out and about to see some local sights. Our MOD, Gavan O’Donnell was happy to take a small group for an afternoon out before the AFL Grand Final evening. The boys enjoyed a walk out to the lighthouse on Griffith Island; famous for its ‘Mutton’ birds. It goes without saying these boarders are making the most of each weekend trip and sampling ice-cream from every destination at which they arrive!

Expressing gratitude

The resilience project is an amazing program designed to empower anybody to live a life focused upon overcoming obstacles and getting the best out of their life. With the Richmond Football Club’s historic win on the weekend it goes without saying Norm Smith medalist, Dustin Martin, was an inspiration to watch. Equally inspiring is Dustin’s approach to resilience and the Resilience Project. Dustin is an avid supporter of the project and makes a concerted effort to build Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness each and every day. Our younger boarders have also began to take up the opportunity to express their gratitude to our Year 12 leavers. This week, as part of the House Mothers’ Lifeskills program our younger boarders created gift packs and notes of thanks to our Year 12s: a wonderful gesture and practice of gratitude from younger to older. Well done boarders!
