Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring Program

Killara High School’s Peer Tutoring Program has been in operation once again in 2020. Commencing in the early weeks of term 1, 2020 we continued the program on Tuesdays and Fridays after school from 3.05—4 pm in the Lion Library.

However, during 2020, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, this program was curtailed until new protocols for schools were implemented, allowing us to restart the program in terms 3 and 4.

In 2020, as in previous years, we have had a wonderful range of student tutors willing to assist our younger students.

Most of the issues that the student tutors covered were related to  English and Mathematics, although other subjects and issues were also discussed.

Below are the main types of issues that our student tutors would cover in these sessions:

  • homework support
  • any particular issues that some students may be struggling with in their subjects
  • cross-curriculum support e.g. writing, reading and numeracy

A big thanks to our student tutors—particularly year 12 student tutors—who gave up their time to commit to this program, and to contribute in such a valuable way to our school community.
