Farm Reminder

St John's farm is a beautiful space created by and for our students who put a lot of time and effort into maintaining it.

We request that if you visit the farm out of school hours that you please treat our beautiful learning space with respect and we ask that you leave it as you found it.

For their safety and well being, please do not let the chickens into the garden as they love to dig up the seedlings planted by our students and impact on the produce grown.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our farm and garden.

How does Our Garden Grow

An insight of what we’ve been doing at the farm.

Over the last 2 weeks the Grade 3-6s have planted new fruit, vegetables and flowers. They are watermelon, potato, carrots, sunflowers, eggplant, tomatoes, sweetcorn and both lebonese cucumbers and ‘no burping’ cucumbers. We chose the fruits and vegetables using our spring/summer plant guide. Some of our new veggies are climbers so we repurposed some mesh to create a frame for them to climb.

We’re planning to add a new system where we add QR codes around the farm that tell us what we’ve planted and some information about each plant. The Grade 5’s are creating infographics for these on Canva.

We have continued to weed, water and compost. Last week the Grade 6’s harvested some leeks and this week the Grade 3-4’s harvested potatoes.

The 3-4’s are currently researching chicken breeds to look at what might be some suitable replacements for our rehomed ones.  We have lifted out the Jerusalem artichokes mound and have moved the oval garden bed to make it more accessible.

We also continue to hope that some local frogs will be attracted to the frog bog!

The 3-6s have been having a very fun and productive time at the farm. We hope you come by to visit.

Joke of the Week

Q: Why shouldn’t you tell a secret on a farm?

A: Because the potatoes have eyes, the corn has ears and the beans stalk.

Drop off and Pick up Routines

Please note that the Back Yard is designated to families with surnames I-S. If you are dropping off/picking up from the Back Yard please make a left turn when exiting the driveway. We are striving to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible, if you need to wait to enter the driveway please pull your car in close to the side of the road so that other cars can pass by. Thank you for your support.

If your family was regularly walking or riding to school each day and you were usually dropping off and picking up at the office then we are still expecting you to do so.  In the event that you have now decided to drive, please advise the office so that your child is at the correct pick up point.

  • Please note that if you usually drive but decide "on the day" to walk or ride at pick up time you will need to call the office and let us know so that we can ensure your child is at the correct pick up point.

Please see below for our drop off and pick up times for our families:-
