Message from Gemma

Principal – St John's Footscray

Hello families,

It's hard to believe that we're almost half way through Term 4! I hope you all enjoyed the warmth on Cup Day and that you're looking forward to the summer days ahead. Below you'll find some reminders for the next few weeks:

We're looking forward to getting our school photos taken on Thursday 26th Nov (please note the change of date to allow for group photos to be taken), please check the community noticeboard for further details.

Please note that we have updated our Privacy policy, this can be viewed online via our school website, hard copies are also available from the Office.

As the weather warms up, hats must be worn outside. Due to our Sunsmart policy, if children do not have a hat they must play in shaded areas only. We did have spares in the office - however last week cleaned us out.

We may not be able to gather as a whole community to celebrate Carols this year but rest assured we've got something up our sleeves - details to come soon ;-)

Year 6 Graduation - we will be celebrating with a liturgy led by Fr Rene on 10th Dec at our school Farm. This will be live streamed so that Yr 6 parents can join us online and be part of the celebration. Following the liturgy we are hoping to take the children out for a special lunch at 540 Barkly.  We will be having a 'different' ceremony for our Year 6's however not any less special. We are awaiting a further ease in restrictions to ensure this can happen. We'll keep you posted!

Prep 2021 Parent Night - we are still hoping that we may be able to gather together as a Prep 2021 parent group. We have tentatively reserved a space at 540 Barkly on 10th Dec, 5:30 pm - 7 pm. We will be keeping a careful eye on restrictions in the coming weeks but we have our fingers crossed that this may be able to go ahead - we will let you know as soon as it's confirmed either way.

Sacrament of Confirmation

We have been advised that this celebration will go ahead in the coming weeks. We are trying to ensure that the children, along with one parent and one sponsor can be present at the ceremony. Further details, including the date/time will be shared with you as soon as possible. In the meantime the children have begun exploring the Gifts of the Spirit and the significance of this sacrament.

Finally, we thank you for your prayers and support of Stevie over the last number of weeks. Stevie's mum left earth side after a very brave battle with cancer, we send much love to Stevie and her family.
