Concept InquiRE Term 3

Our Term 3 concept is Environment and Resources. Each grade will explore this big idea through lessons and workshops.

P-3 students will explore this concept through shared personal experiences and workshops to help them find answers to the big question - How do I connect and care for my environment? Year 4/5/6 students will investigate the concept of Environment and Resources through various workshops, experiences and personal projects. They hope to find answers to the big question - What is the cost?

We look forward to seeing and hearing about their explorations, investigations and discoveries throughout this term.

NAPLAN 2023

This week we received notification of NAPLAN results for 2023, and expect that these will be available to families very soon. We are extremely proud of the efforts and achievements of our Year 3 and Year 5 students in completing these national assessments.

It is important to remember that these assessments only assess a small set of skills and can never give a full picture of all the qualities that make each student special, unique and talented. Yes, NAPLAN does assess important skills needed along our learning journey, but there are many other attributes and skills that a test can never measure - empathy, kindness, determination, courage, artistic ability, problem-solving skills when unexpected things happen, creativity, thoughtfulness and resilience - just to name a few.

Students results reflect their achievement on a particular test, on a particular day, but cannot tell us, parents or the students themselves, everything. As teachers we use a range of tests, work samples, observations, evidence and data when making conclusions about student progress and never rely of the results of one test.

There have been some changes to the presentation of NAPLAN results from previous years.  Please see the video below designed to support parents and carers in reading their child's report and contact Declan or myself if you would like further assistance to understand your child's results.

Congratulations again to our Year 3 and Year 5 students.
