Year 12 Chemistry

Year 12 Chemistry students are completing their Extended Practical Investigations in the last few weeks of term. Each group of students will be investigating different factors affecting electroplating. For today's demonstration, I sacrificed my ring and plated it in zinc and then copper. The results were not quite pretty.

Students weighed the mass of the ring before and after plating. We tested with different concentrations, voltage applied, time taken, and temperature of solutions as well.
