Interstate Football returned to the North Hobart Oval on 1 July, with a Tasmanian combination defeating a Queensland team in a closely fought match - Tasmania 9.8 (62) def. Queensland 7.13 (55).
Other than a victory for the Tassie boys, a highlight was the Old Virgilian involvement in the game.
Seven of the 42 players involved in the game were former students – five for Tassie and two for Queensland. For Tasmania: Josh Arnold (SVC 2005-08), Ben Donnelly (SVC 2013-16), Tyler McGinniss (SVC 2013-16), Sam Siggins (SVC 2007-10) and James Webb (SVC 2010-13); for Queensland - Jordan Arnold (SVC 2009-12) and Jordan Hayden (SVC 2020-13).
Brothers Josh and Jordan Arnold played on opposing sides. The following weekend Josh, who is the captain - coach of the Glenorchy in the Statewide League , played his 250th senior game. An amazing achievement.
Sam Siggins was adjudged the best afield and was awarded the Lefroy Medal (to add to his other medals – he was the winner of the Alistair Lynch Medal in 2020 and 2022 - the medal award the best player on the Tasmanian Statewide League).
