RNPS REWARD POINTS

When shopping at Ritchies and by using a community benefit card linked to Ringwood North Primary School then Ritchies will donate money back to us. These cards can be used at ANY Ritchies IGA store, supermarket or liquor throughout Vic, NSW and QLD by any of our staff and families/ grandparents of the children.

If you would like to support us and you don’t already have a Community Benefits card please collect one at the registers next time you shop at ANY Ritchies store to use every time you shop.  All you do is nominate Ringwood North Primary School. It’s that easy!

We also benefit from every purchase you make  at Rebel Sport.

All you need to do is sign up as a ‘Rebel Active Member’ and have your card linked to Ringwood North Primary School.

We then receive 5% of the sales which goes towards buying sporting goods for our school.

SECOND HAND UNIFORMS

Secondhand uniforms are still available to purchase from the school.

The shop will be open on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings from 9:00 - 9:30am.

Come into the office to purchase as the shop has been moved to the Administration area.

HELPERS NEEDED FOR BIG ON BOOKS

Big-on-Books is a school based literacy support program for students in Grades 3 – 6 who would benefit from additional support with reading. In this program, volunteer tutors work with a student once a week for half an hour, supporting them with their reading.  A key factor in the Big-on-Books program is reliable volunteer tutors from the community.  You yourself may be interested in participating in this program as a volunteer tutor, or you may know someone in the wider community (such as a retiree) who is interested in participating in this program.

It is most important that these students see their tutors every week, so before signing on, please be very sure that you are prepared to commit fully to the program and can come every week.

We are hoping to get the Big-on-Books program operating early in Term 2.  We will run a short training session for those who would like to become tutors, on a date to be advised. If you have already trained previously, you do not need to train again, though you are more than welcome to attend the session.

You must have a current ‘Working with Children’ card. If you do not have one, you need to apply at the Post Office as soon as possible and state that you are a volunteer (this will then be free of charge).

If you are interested in participating in this program, please email the following information as soon as possible to:- Fiona Davis  -  davis.fiona.f@edumail.vic.gov.au

PARENT CLASS REPRESENTATIVES

Thank you to the few parents who have offered to be the Class Parent Representative for thier child's class for 2020.  Natalie will be sending you an email to confirm your offer.

A meeting will take place on Thursday 20th February at 3:00pm in the Staffroom.

If you are interested and have not yet offered you are most welcome to join the meeting.

This role can also be shared between two or more parents.

2020 CSEF (Camps, Sport & Excursions Fund)

Please notethat if you applied for CSEF last year you do not need to reapply this year.  However, if your circumstances have changed please advise the office.

Eligibility

On the first day of term one (28 January 2020) or the first day of term two (14 April 2020), a parent or legal guardian of a student must:

  • be an eligible beneficiary of one of these cards:
  • Veterans Affairs Gold Card
  • Centrelink Health Care Card
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • OR they must be a temporary foster parent
  • OR the student is 16 years or older and holds a valid concession card (such as a Youth Allowance Health Care Card)
  • AND the parent or legal guardian must submit an application by the due date.

Parents who receive a carer allowance on behalf of a child, or any other benefit or allowance not income tested by Centrelink, are not eligible for the CSEF unless they also comply with the above.

Eligibility will be determined when the parent’s concession card successfully validates with Centrelink on either the first day of term one or term two.

If the eligible card is in the name of the student, the fund is only granted to that student, not their siblings.

Prep students who receive the fund are also able to get support for school uniforms.   The application process for your Prep child to receive assistance with school uniforms will open in Term 2 or Term 3.  You will be notified by the school when the package is available.

WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH

Students participated in the Maroondah City Council Walk to School Month last October. Mr Trend and class teachers organised a bunch of great activities to encourage the students to get outside and have a go.

As part of the Walk to School Activities students could enter the BAG Tag competition. Two of our students were the lucky in winners in their categories:

Winner of the 5-8 age group Maya Daniel

Winner of the 9-12 age group Skye O’Dwyer

Maya and Skye received a pair of converse boots with their designs printed on them.

Well done with RNPS students winning 2 of the 4 categories.
