I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing holiday and Easter period with family & friends. We look forward to a great term two, full of learning and growth for our students.
Our next Curriculum Day is Monday 6 May, please book into our OSHC service should it be required on this pupil free day.
Information Session Thursday 9 May, 3:30pm – School Staffroom
A request to all families, to please consider hosting our sister school, Sinmyeong Elementary School, Korean Exchange students from 24 July ~ 11 August.
Students are generally aged 9-12yrs, are required to stay in pairs and speak some English. It has been a great experience for host families in the past and I am certain the experience won’t disappoint.
Benefits include language & culture abound, opportunities for your own family to grow and be exposed to experiences and relationships money can’t buy.
Host families receive generous funding per student, per week to more than cover costs incurred. Families who host have first option of attending the Korean trip on alternate years to our sister school in Gimhae (near Busan) at Sinmyeong Elementary School.
Please contact Dale if you would like further information or to register your interest – power.dale.r@edumail.vic.gov.au
Last term I offered two drop in sessions for school community members to provide feedback in a number of areas we operate under the school.
We had in excess of 30 families support the opportunity, which was both wonderful and enlightening. Without your thoughts, feedback and ideas, we can’t improve – so thank you!
It is now up to us to continue to forge ways forward of improving what’s already happening.
Some main areas for opportunity to improve include, but are not limited to:
Today our Year 5/6 students hosted a fitting tribute to our school ANZAC Service. Students have been learning about the importance of our national day of commemoration and honoured both fallen and returned service persons.
Tomorrow, it is the community’s turn! From 10am, you are all invited to attend the Miners Rest Cenotaph for the 2019 ANZAC Day Service.
I hope to see you all there on such an important occasion for our community and particularly the new generation coming through to respect the events of the past.
Many of our students will be involved in a choir, laying a wreath and completing readings. I will again be honoured to MC the event. This will be our fifth year in Miners Rest to hold such a Service – one of only 3 in Ballarat (Sturt St, Buninyong & Miners Rest).

Working together is success.”
