Year 7

Year 7

This term has been busy for our Year 7’s.  All students attended ‘Bouncing Back’ an inspirational talk by Mike Rolls, a double amputee.  Students really enjoyed hearing Mike’s journey and how his life has bounced back from meningococcal.  Students were also treated to a sneak peak of our fantastic production ‘Footloose’.  It was great so see so many year 7's involved in the production.

Students have been working hard in their classes and to help support them with upcoming performance tasks students can attend:

  • English Top Up: Monday lunchtimes in the Egg.
  • Math Top Up: Tuesday lunchtimes in R4.
  • Help in LC1 every lunchtime to complete overdue performance tasks

I would like to congratulate all our helpers for this week’s primary school Science Week.  We had 20 amazing students helping our primary students through scientific experiments and activities on flight.  They were wonderful!

Just a reminder, if you are unable to wear correct uniform please bring a note to the coordinators before school so you can be issued with a pass.  If you are going to be away, please advise this on compass or ring our attendance line on 5970 0270.

Writing Competition

On Saturday the 17th of August I attended an event at Farrell’s Bookstore Mornington in support of Taylor Branford in 7M. Taylor entered a fiction writing competition run by Farrells and was shortlisted as a finalist. The event was hosted by Jane Goodwin, a highly regarded picture story and young adult fiction writer. Jane spoke about writing and answered questions from an eager, excited audience that filled the store wall to wall. The competition fielded over 200 entries this year from students of all ages. Taylor’s story ‘Freedom’ won a prize in her category for lower secondary writers. Her story is now published on the Farrells website at : http://www.farrells.com.au/2019-childrens-book-week-and-story-writing-competition-winners/ .

Taylor is a very talented writer who I am very privileged to teach. She hopes to be an author/illustrator one day. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
