Artists of the Weeks

Nina L, Sienna W and Sophie P, all from 2PW have been artists of the Week with their glazed terracotta fish. We call these our "fast food fish", since we used a variety of international fast foods as inspiration as we made them. First we shaped the clay into a Chinese dumpling. This was then flattened into an Italian mini pizza base. Then we folded this up like a Mexica taco. Finally we pinched the clay together like a Cornish pastie!! With further manipulation and embellishment, the fish were created! Great work girls!

In the final week of term our artists of the week are Rei Yi T and Judy W of 6CF with their Local Landscapes Through our Eyes. Both these works are scenes of Leigh Park, here in North Balwyn. Both artists have rendered a really beautiful scene set eerily within the iris of an eye. You can see from the quality of their work how hard it has been for we teachers to choose the works to be shown at the Hawthorn Gallery.
