From our Principal

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

As another term draws to an end I take this opportunity to congratulate our students for the manner in which they have engaged with their learning, particularly whilst in the remote setting. I give thanks also for the professional manner in which staff have delivered a quality learning program under challenging circumstances. I came across the prayer below last week. It reminded me of the need to be outward thinkers who show empathy for the hardest hit during this pandemic, not only at the local level but the broader world we live in.

Generous God,

Fill us with compassion and concern for others, young and old,

that we may look after one another in these challenging days.

Bring healing to those who are sick with the virus and be with their families.

May those who have died rest in your eternal embrace.

Comfort their family and friends.

Strengthen and protect all medical professionals caring for the sick

and all who work in our medical facilities.

Give wisdom to leaders in healthcare and governance

that they may make the right decisions for the well-being of people.

We pray in gratitude for all those in our country who will continue to work in the days ahead in so many fields of life for the sake of us all.

Bless them and keep them safe.

We ask this prayer through Christ our healer and redeemer

Amen.

College Leaders for 2022 Announced

I take this opportunity to congratulate our recently announced College Leaders for 2022. An impressive group of individuals who collectively are charged with the responsibility of supporting and leading our student body. Never has there been a more important time for students to connect as a community and to lift up their voices. These Leaders will play a pivotal role in providing reconnection points upon our return to face-to-face learning.

Our College Student Leaders of 2022, from this point on, are called upon to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to serve our college community at every opportunity
  • Display a commitment to be an effective team player
  • Make a commitment to leave the college in a better place than you found it
  • Possess a passion to develop student voice
  • To be that positive influence on those they meet

At this time, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of our 2021 school leaders. Leadership is most sought and noticed in times of adversity. The COVID-19 pandemic has asked much of everyone but especially our student leaders. They have demonstrated passion, creativity and commitment to care for and reach out to others, particularly our student community. They have been the servant leaders that we asked and challenged them to be. I thank each and every leader for their authentic commitment in serving the needs of our community.

Pursuit of Excellence

This year we were able to present to the College community our Pursuit of Excellence recipients in a very different way. Parents of our Pursuit of Excellence awardees presented their child with their certificate whilst being filmed. This was then reproduced into a video presentation and shown to the College community. Parents play a pivotal role in shaping the success of their children and therefore it was only right and proper that they shared in their success. Congratulations is extended to the following pursuit of excellence recipients for 2021.

A note about Term 4

At this stage we are uncertain what the beginning of Term 4 is going to look like. I would hope some clarity is provided on or around 23 September 2021. Correspondence will be sent out during the term holidays as soon as a clearer picture is provided. The first day of Term 4 is Monday, 4 October 2021.

Enjoy the week ahead and for students enjoy the chance to move away from screens for a while.

Stay safe and Stay well.

Mr Chris Black
