New Numeracy role at Cecil Hills High School

Schools have been set new, ambitious numeracy targets to achieve as part of our current school plan. At Cecil Hills High School,  we already achieve strong numeracy results across Year 7 and Year 9 NAPLAN.  However, to ensure that we are meeting these targets and to ensure that students have the numerical skills required to succeed in life after school, we have decided to create a new Numeracy Team Leader position. I would like to congratulate Ms Palumbo (pictured right) on her appointment to this role.  I know Ms Palumbo will do a fantastic job working with staff and students.

Thank you to staff, students and parents

This term has been a great challenge for staff. However, everyone I am speaking with and working with are doing such an amazing job. I have worked in four schools and the way staff have banded together here and their flexibility in doing their jobs has been outstanding.  I haven’t seen this level of professionalism across the board, nor this level of commitment collegiality.  Cecil Hills High School is an amazing place to work and I am so grateful to be a part of the team. Thank you for everything you are doing to support the students.

Thank you to all the students, particularly my Year 10 students who I work closely with. The students are doing a great job also. We have had extremely high engagement online with an average attendance rate of 96.93% this term, which is outstanding in comparison with other schools. I know some of the students are struggling with the demands of online learning, but the work samples that I have seen have been of extremely high quality.  I do hope to see you all face to face and learning from school at some point next term.

Thank you to all the parents and carers. We have had a high level of community engagement and a great deal of feedback from parents during remote learning. It has been difficult for some families who are out of work or stuck at home trying to work and look after children during the school day and beyond. Thank you for the positive and constructive feedback during this time.
