COVID-19 has been a challenge for a lot of people, including myself, my family and some of my family friends. School has been something that has been occupying my for my entire lockdown and it has been a lot of fun. A lot of the activities and lessons have been lots of fun to do and it takes a lot of hard work to make these lessons. So, I want to say thank you for making this lessons and occupying me during lockdown. Lucas Kim

Year 8 Daily Challenges continue!

Year 8 daily challenges have continued throughout the term. It is fantastic to see so many students participate in these challenges. The mid-term winners got to enjoy tasty pizzas delivered straight to their door step in Week 5! New winners will be announced in Week 10. Keep up the great work, Year 8!

How does Year 8 feel about learning from home?

For the past 9 weeks, us students have been stuck on our devices doing online learning. We have been given multiple assessments and a whole heap of homework which, in my opinion, has made online learning a bit difficult. I miss learning in a classroom where my phone isn't a distraction and where I can communicate with my friends and classmates. I miss being able to play on the oval at recess and lunch with my peers and overall, I never thought I would be saying this, I miss the school environment.

Online school has it’s pros and cons. For example, you get to wake up late and have shorter classes but, you don’t get to see any friends or have a laugh during recess and lunch. Online school makes you less social, more lazy and stuck on devices for half the day. But it does help teachers with having to not deal with any bad behaviour.  It also helps with the development of independence since we get to do everything by ourselves. Going to school helps build habits for the future, like looking formal, waking up early, using diaries, packing bags and being socially interactive to build friendships.

Online school has been very boring, the only thing keeping me from losing my mind is playing on the PlayStation. The work has been alright, there's nothing really challenging apart from when we are trying to learn a new topic that we have never learnt about. I just miss seeing my friends and having fun at school, can we just keep the 30 min breaks in between one hour periods when we get back?

Happy holidays

Year 8,  Mr Wilcox and I are extremely proud of all you have achieved this term. It was challenging, to say the least... but you have done an incredible job and we couldn't be prouder! Thank you for being the respectful and responsible students that you are.

We hope that you take a break from your devices and enjoy the holidays! We are looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks (virtually first and then fingers crossed in person!)

Keep smiling and stay safe.
