“Never see a need without doing something about it.”
Mary Mackillop
On August 8, we celebrated the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first Saint. Mary MacKillop was a pioneer and advocate for the poor, sick and those on the margins of our society. Today, her mission to the poor is very much alive in our world.
Mary died on August 8, 1909, in North Sydney where her tomb is now enshrined. This great Australian woman inspired great dedication to God's work in the then new colonies. In today's world, she stands as an example of great courage and trust in living out God's loving and compassionate care of those in need.
On October 17, 2010, Mary Mackillop was canonized as Australia's first saint. She is known as Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop.
Our Year 4 students shared a liturgy about our courageous and faith filled, first saint with the school community last week. I invite you to view it using the attachment below.
There are links within the presentation for you to also view.
Due to the current lockdown, the Parent & Child Workshops listed below have been postponed. New dates will be confirmed once restrictions are eased. At this stage, the ceremony dates remain the same.
Grow in gratitude and empathy.
