Wellbeing

Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally, and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

Rest

For many of us, rest is a word that is often dreamt about, or perhaps it’s just a passing thought. I often find it difficult to find time for rest. Once I arrive home there are jobs to be done, children to support, and a raft of other things that are on my list and have probably been there for what seems an eternity. If you are thinking the same, you are certainly not alone.

In the school holidays I caught up with some friends for a couple of days and one of those days we went to see the horse racing. It’s not something I would normally do but throughout the day while sitting around I reflected with a friend. It was great just sitting around in the nice weather and not thinking about all the other things I normally would need to do. It was certainly an eye-opener in realizing how important rest is.

Finding time to rest is not always easy but did you know there are many different types of rest? I often think of rest as just sitting around and not doing anything. That physical and mental rest I find so important just to give the body and brain a break from the rigors of life.

Whatever your lifestyle is like I hope that you can find some time throughout the week for rest. Work out a routine if needed, make plans with your family or friends. It is important to take time to rest. Good luck!
