Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all our families for your support in moving back to Remote Learning last week. We know it is not easy for anyone during these times as you balance working from home and providing support for your child's learning, but we really appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this time together. Please remember, just do what you are able to do. There is no pressure from us for your child to complete every bit of work, every day of the week. If there are times when your child, or even yourself, are feeling less than motivated, do not try to force the work to get it done. If your family need a mental break from everything, that is perfectly fine. Included in this newsletter are some helpful wellbeing tips compiled by Mrs Roseby. Looking after the health and wellbeing of your family is the most important thing right now. We are also just a phone call or email away if you need any help with the content, need some clarity on the set tasks or just need to have a chat.

To support families at home, this Friday is a designated "no screen" day. Once the morning zoom check-in is finished, we recommend children stay off devices through the school day. They can complete some jobs around the house or yard, do some reading, drawing or writing on paper, or use the time to complete some extra Engineering challenges for our KLA theme this week using Lego. Students in 3/4/5/6 will be invited to complete activities on the Book Week reading rubric on Friday.

All learning activities for this week can be found on our Google Site (link to the site found in this newsletter). Don't forget there are also some extra links to online resources and ideas for activities in literacy and numeracy if you are looking to do something extra with your child.

This week is Book Week and we would normally be gearing up for our Book Week Character Parade. In lieu of our parade this year, we are inviting children to dress up at home this Friday in their costume and to send us in a photo so that we can have a virtual parade in 2021. The theme for this year's Book Week is "Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds."

Special mention to Jack Rees, Jeremiah and Shakira Talbott who will celebrate their birthdays on Wednesday 25th August. We hope you all have a great day!

We are hopeful of being back onsite next week. If the lockdown for regional NSW is extended beyond this Sunday, we will be in contact with families to inform you about learning structures for next week as soon as possible.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Nick
