Congratulations Mr Black

We are very proud to announce that David Black, Leader of Teacher Practice at Wantirna College, has been named as a finalist for 2021 Victorian Education Excellence Awards in the category of Physical Education and Activity.

We are delighted that David Black has been named among the finalists, a wonderful acknowledgement of his contribution to our school and broader community.

David Black has been chosen as a finalist in the Physical Education and will appear via a remote link during a live-streamed online award presentation ceremony on 22 October 2021 when the winners will be announced.

Now in its twentieth year, the awards are the premier employee recognition program for staff in Victorian government schools. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of staff who improve schools and support children and young people to develop the skills and learning outcomes to succeed in life.

Award categories include outstanding primary and secondary teachers, principals and business managers, school improvement, Koorie education, inclusive education, and education support. In 2021 two new award categories have been introduced to recognise excellent teachers in the first five years of their teaching career. All finalists are in the running to win professional development grants of up to $25,000 to support their work in schools.

The awards demonstrate how dedicated and innovative school staff are making a positive difference to their students and school communities, and to be a finalist is a great achievement. Congratulations David, a well-deserved award.
