Principal Team Editorial

This week, we end what has been a frustrating term 3. We have spent almost the entire time in remote learning, which has been frustrating for both students, staff and parents. We have done our best to be flexible and focus on addressing the well-being needs of our students, whilst balancing reasonable academic expectations during this time. Again, remote learning is not an adequate replacement for onsite learning, however our teachers and students have done their best to achieve positive outcomes during this time. However fatigue is setting in, and the holidays couldn’t come at a better time for everyone. I would like to thank all of our staff who have been dedicated to supporting our entire community throughout the last 18 months. They deserve a well earned break over the next couple of weeks, allowing them to recharge the batteries and come back energised for term 4. The Premier is set to announce the roadmap out of lockdown including the plan for returning to school this Sunday, at this stage I haven’t received any advance notice of what might be included in this plan.

Our way out of this pandemic continues to revolve around vaccination and fortunately all members of our community are now eligible to receive a vaccine. This will mean that a significant portion of our school community will be partially or fully vaccinated when we return onsite, significantly reducing the risk. There has been no indication from the government that students who aren’t vaccinated will be limited from returning to school, likewise at this stage there are no plans for any vaccinations to occur onsite. As stated previously, I completely support the current vaccination program and I encourage everyone in our community to play their part. This week 12+ students became eligible to be vaccinated and details on how that will occur are below.

I hope everyone who can enjoys a well earned break over the couple of weeks and we hopefully look forward to better circumstances next term!
