Congratulations to all students and families for making it to the end of Term 3 under challenging circumstances. I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday.

Let's celebrate some of the superb science students have been engaging in over the last fortnight...

Foundation

Students continued to expand their scientific understanding that objects are made of materials that have observable properties through That’s my hat

Students identified and found objects that were fluffy, shiny and soft:

Students also explored which materials and objects would provide shade for a sunny day hat:

Year 1 and 2

Through the unit Up, down and all around students expand their scientific understanding that observable changes occur in the sky and landscape.

Students described the affect of drought on living things and the availability of food:

Students also identified quick and slow changes to the landscape and sky:

Year 3 and 4

Through Night and day students build their scientific understanding that Earth’s rotation on its axis causes regular changes, including night and day.

Students explored and explained what causes night and day:

Students also investigated the length and direction of shadows during one day:

Year 5 and 6

Through Earth’s place in space students build their scientific understanding that the Earth is part of a system of planets orbiting around a star (the sun).

Students defined the term Solar System and provided examples of space objects contained in our Solar System:

Students also created a scaled, 3D model of our Solar System:
