From the Principal

Therese Stewart

Dear Families,

I hope you have enjoyed this glorious weather over the last few days.  It is amazing how many people have walked up and down the street outside my office.  It certainly  makes a difference to the day.

The children continue to be champions in the way they are approaching their remote learning.  Every family has their own routine and plan for what works for them during this time.  As advised yesterday we will continue with remote learning for the remainder of the term with more information to come next week from the Chief Health Officer in relation to the children's return to school next term.

An Operoo will come home today for supervision of children of essential workers.  Children must be booked in via the Operoo system to allow for adequate supervision to be in place.  I understand that families are experiencing challenging times every day and want their children at school but the school is also bound by guidelines and restrictions for  attendance . Children at school are being supervised each day, they are not being taught and are following the remote learning program as are all other children at Our Lady's and every other school around the State.

Next Wednesday we will be sending a link to the children to complete a Wellbeing survey about how they are managing remote learning.  This give us an indicator to how children are feeling, what they are enjoying and what else they may like to do.  This is a school based survey and the data stays with the school.  Teachers will speak with the children about the survey at the Wednesday zoom.  The juniors may need a little parental support to read the questions but we would really like their responses.  This can be done at a time that suits your family.

Lindy, our Wellbeing Leader has placed a link to  a Webinar hosted by the Royal Children's Hospital about Supporting Young Children’s Health through the Pandemic.  This is an excellent webinar for parents of children of all ages with discussion around how you can support your children and family during this time.  I highly recommend watching it.  Lindy adds fabulous resources each week to support children and families.

I was standing at the photocopier earlier in the week, copying documents and noticed this on the wall.  As I waited I read each of the little bubbles.   Each little bubble spoke to me in some way and described part of my day, and the day before and the day before that and no doubt tomorrow and the next.  It also reminded me that we are all doing our very best, sometimes that feels that that is not enough, but  if it is our very best then that is enough!  This time shall pass, perhaps not as quickly as we had hoped and wanted and life will return to our new normal.

Again I would like to stress that if there are families who are facing financial difficulties during these times in regard to fees and levies  please contact me at school so we are able to support you during this time.

I hope every Dad has a very happy Father's Day on Sunday, it may be a quieter one again this year but enjoy your children at this special time.  May we also remember the Dad's who are no longer with us, but looking down upon us and watching over us each and every day.

Take care

Therese
