In order to maintain a safe school environment during COVID-19 times, Brighton Primary School has made some appropriate changes to ensure the safety of all students and staff onsite.
The School will continue to use the Return to school operations guide.
Some students will be attending school if parents are essential workers. Staff will be onsite to help with their remote learning during this time. We will be following DET and DHHS guidelines which requires both parents and staff working together and complying with regulations of Stage 3 restrictions.
ALL CHILDREN AND STAFF MUST STAY HOME IF THEY ARE UNWELL.
Temperature Screening at School
All students have their temperature taken when they arrive at school using an infrared thermometer.
If the student has a temperature equal to or greater than 37.5 degrees, the student will return home with their parent / carer.
If a child displays any symptoms of COVID-19, they will be isolated in an appropriate space with a mask applied, and supervised until collected by a parent or carer. Medical advice and coronavirus testing would be indicated.
Hygiene Measures
Hand hygiene is performed immediately when students attend onsite and is performed regularly by children and staff
A cleaner is onsite to clean the facilities ensuring that high touch areas are cleaned regularly including play equipment
Respiratory hygiene is reinforced - sneezes or coughs into elbow, followed by hand hygiene.
Students are reminded to avoid touching their face, eyes, nose and mouth to help reduce the spread.
Face Masks
DHHS Face Coverings Rules are now in place. A face covering needs to cover both your nose and mouth according to these guidelines. Please note that this is required for parents at school for school drop off and pick up. All staff will be adhering to the rules now in place. Please make sure you are aware of the new rules and adhere to them.
COVID-19 Testing
All staff and students are expected to have COVID testing if they display any signs or symptoms of the virus.
These include:
The person is to isolate as directed by their medical practitioner until a negative result is obtained. All negative results are to be sent to the school nurse prior to your child returning to school.
Further information regarding testing can be obtained here
Health and Safety Matters
Playground equipment can be used by students. Hand hygiene is to be performed before and after use. The cleaners are cleaning the equipment regularly.
Doors will be kept open where possible to reduce the number of times where handles are used.
Staff and students who wish to wear a mask are free to do so.
Adult Social Distancing
Parents are not to enter school grounds unless there is a significant reason to do so.
Parents should not congregate outside the school gates and should maintain 1.5m social distancing at all times.
Staff members are adhering to social distancing guidelines and appropriate signage has been placed in common rooms to advise staff of maximum capacity.
Drink fountains not in use
If your child is attending school onsite, please make sure they bring a full water bottle.
Mental Health is Important
Make sure you stay on the phone and keep in touch with friends and family.
Eat well and stay active. Make sure you exercise regularly.
Seek help if needed.
Reminder :
Your child must stay home if they are unwell.
Together we can stop the spread and stay healthy
