Student Voice

The Student Voice and Advocacy team has been working hard to incorporate student agency in our school. Student agency is where students have the opportunity to be part of the conversation with teachers and contribute to their own learning. The development of voice and agency is one of the key targets of our school. It is a way for students to contribute to decision making and shape their own education.

This past week, students from the Voice and Advocacy team have been working with the teachers to discuss possible opportunities for student influence and contribution to the curriculum. The aim is to have more student input so we can act on the issues that matter to the student community within the school.

The student body was represented at the latest staff curriculum meeting by Sam Martin (Middle School Captain) and Chani Thompson (Languages leader). It has been a huge step towards opening opportunities and building on the opportunities to empower all students for the future. We collected students' thoughts and opinions concerning their education through a google form. This feedback has acted in providing meaningful suggestions, ideas and feedback to support potential change to our current learning environment.

The student Voice and Advocacy team can be easily contacted at any time with suggestion and ideas for ways to continue to develop our voice at MGSC.  Drop us a line!
