Robotics Club

The MGSC robotics club has officially begun! We held our first official meeting of the year on Thursday 30 July and kicked off the club with some basic coding to get everyone started.

So far, we have been using block coding on https://roboton.io so everyone could familiarise themselves with the website we will be using this year. The website allows us to use a range of different coding languages and code race tracks, pendulums and sumo wrestling robots. It’s also really helpful in being able to connect our students who are doing remote learning as well as the ones who are currently on-site. On Thursday, the group learnt how to create two different types of controllers for the line racer, the goal of the day was to code for the race car to go as fast as possible through the ‘gates’ on the track. Fortunately, we were all successful in completing the race and even got some incredibly fast times!

As the Year 7-10 students are still in remote learning, they joined the session over Google Meets while the Year 11 and 12 students were able to meet in the Science labs. (Sorry, no photos.)

If you’re interested in joining the club, please email
