Year 7 News

Our Year 7 students have been doing brilliantly during throughout Term 3. Students have been engaging via numerous communicative platforms and have shown great maturity for such a young age. Remote Learning is a challenge. But the optimism, patience, resilience and proactive approach shown by our cohort is extremely impressive. Our Year 7 teachers are truly proud of our cohort and what’s been achieved- well done!

Once again, we are truly thankful to all parents and guardians for your ongoing support.

If you’re finding that your child is becoming overwhelmed or needs additional support (academically or emotionally) during this time, please notify their teacher or Ms Casha via email or phone the College and we can put strategies in place.

Please note that Home Group Zoom from 8:50am-9:00am is compulsory. If your child is unable to attend due to an appointment etc. please notify their Home Group teacher or simply add their absence to Compass. If the Home Group teacher is unavailable, the roll will be marked during the session 1 Zoom instead.

What is the purpose of Home Group/Morning Circle?

1. Sets a tone for respectful engaged learning in a climate of trust

2. Builds and enhances connections among students and between students and teachers

3. Merges academic, social, and emotional learning

4. Motivates students by addressing the human need to feel a sense of significance and belonging and to have fun

5. Through the repetition of many ordinary moments of respectful interactions, enables some extraordinary moments

Once again, well done to all our Year 7 students on the consistent approach they have demonstrated throughout the remote learning period. We are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Keep up the good work!

Life in Isolation by Leah 7D

Back in isolation once again. If I am being honest it is not as bad as what it was last time, the only thing wrong with it is that we cannot go outside, and it is super boring. I go to school to escape my parents but now I can’t even do that anymore ughhh. One thing that is the best is that I can create my own schedule and choose what I work on…also there is an unlimited amount of food so that is also a bonus. Featuring a photo of my cat Simon, mimicking how I’m feeling right now!

My Remote Learning Experience by Leo 7F

My remote learning from home has been hard because we have been staying at home and not able to go out. I miss going out to restaurants, going to the city, and swimming every Friday night.

My mum and dad are able to go shopping, but I’m not able to, the only thing I have been doing is taking my dog (Ally) for walks and going for bike rides. I do miss going to school and seeing my friends and I miss my walks to school. Hopefully everything will be back to how it was, soon.

Life in Isolation by Mikayla 7D

Isolation has been boring; I have not been able to see any of my friends, other family or go out and do anything fun. We have been keeping in contact with my grandparents, and Aunty via what’s app. One exciting development was that we bought my canary bird Mango, and she has already laid one egg! Another thing we discovered during isolation was Kororoit Creek which is not far from where we live, and we are going for walks there a couple of times a week. And we also very recently got some pet fish!

Thank you to our brave Year 7 students for their contributions, well done.
