Prep News

On the 13th of August, the preps celebrated their 100th Day of learning.

We’ve been learning for a while. In fact, 100 days! We can spell, read, and write. We can count in many ways. We’ve had fun and made good friends. But it isn’t over yet. Let’s keep going, going, going and see how smart we can get!

We had a zoom assembly and were joined by the prep Grannies. Congratulations to all the preps for this amazing achievement we are so proud of you. Feel free to watch the Prep 100th Day video by clicking on the link: https://vimeo.com/448431714

The Prep Teachers have missed you all so much. We cannot wait to see you all again.

Keep up all the amazing work and we will get through this together.

Yours Truly,

The Prep Team

Year 1 Team

Happy Halfway of Remote Learning! Five weeks down and five weeks to go!

The Grade 1 teachers would like to thank all the parents and students for all their hard work over the past five weeks. You are all doing a fantastic job logging onto Zoom for our Whole Class Meetings and our Small Group Meetings.

Remember, these are mandatory, so you must be logging on to these zooms every day!  We are getting lots of Learning Tasks uploaded each week.  It is imperative that Learning Tasks get uploaded in order for the teachers to see progress and also to be able to assess the students. As of week 6, we will be having four Learning Tasks to upload each week.

In Reading, we will continue to be doing InitialLit, focusing on digraphs and trigraphs. In Writing, we are continuing with our Narrative Unit, focusing on adjectives, punctuation and character development.

Counting and Operations will be the focus for Maths for the rest of the term.  We also have a Play-Based Learning learning task to complete as well.  This is found under the Humanities subject.

Year 2 News

We are halfway through term 3 and have been very engaged in our remote learning.

In Maths we have been practising various strategies when adding and subtracting. We have used MAB, number lines and bar models to work out the missing parts in the worded problems.

Our next topic Data. We will be collecting data and then learning how to create graphs and charts to represent the data we collect.

When reading we have made connections and visualised texts that we have read. Check out the pictures of some of our great work.

In maths we have been writing narratives focussing on characters, settings and problems and solutions. In grammar, we have learnt about adjectives, adverbs and connecting sentences together

Our first virtual Year 2 assembly was hosted by the year 2 teachers and ran smoothly and gave the students an opportunity to see each other’s faces.

The year 2 team are impressed with everyone’s positive mind set to their learning and look forward to this continuing in the upcoming weeks.

Kind regards,
