COVID-19 Update

Covid-19 Update

Parents may be aware of a public announcement today from the NSW Chief Health Officer, focussed on keeping schools safe. The new guidelines are in response to a small number of virus cases in the metropolitan area, which have been of concern.

The impact of these recommendations are as follows:

  • All our students will undergo a health check at the start of the school day. Any student or staff member with cold or flu symptoms will not attend class and go home. As per the newsletter last week, a visit to the Respiratory Clinic is required.
  • Regular handwashing and hygiene remain mandatory requirements.
  • Calrossy will immediately cease all choir and classroom singing activities. Group wind instrument lessons and rehearsals will also be placed on hold. (Individual lessons, in safe settings may continue.)
  • Further restrictions have been placed around Year 12 Graduation events. Whilst we had planned to involve parents in an event this September, at this stage the updated regulations restrict anything to student attendance only. (More detail will be provided once the regulations have been carefully considered.) No dinners are allowed.
  • As per our current practice, there is no planned resumption of overnight excursions or expeditions.
  • Social distancing restrictions for adults will continue. It is recommended that parents do not enter school premises until further notice. Any variation to this will be by appointment only.
  • Bus transport outside our immediate local district has been advised against.
  • Local sport and games involving students/clubs outside the Tamworth area must be re-evaluated.

Whilst these new regulations have the potential to further disrupt what has already been a challenging 2020, our focus is to keep our community safe. As always, the wellbeing of Calrossy students and staff remains our primary concern. Despite the lower risk to students in our region, we are committed to especially supporting our Year 12 students who are sitting their Trial HSC examinations.

I will keep parents and the community updated with any implications that might affect students and families.
