Feast of the Assumption
Saturday 15th August, Feast of the Assumption
Saturday week will be the Feast of the Assumption,
a Holy Day of Obligation,
a day when we celebrate Mary being assumed body and soul up to heaven,
a day when we celebrate the willingness of Mary to say, "Yes" to God when called,
a day when we celebrate the gift of all mothers, parents and people who so selflessly care for the children of our community
In a world that is increasingly selfish and negative, a world where we are being asked everyday to work together for the good of all, the call to a Christian life is a call to say ‘Yes’ to life itself and all it offers. By saying ‘Yes’ to life we say ‘Yes’ to life-giving relationships and decisions and ‘No’ to life denying relationships and decisions. To say ‘Yes’ to life is to say ‘No’ to those things that harm self and harm others. A ‘Yes’ to life is a ‘Yes’ to hope; to possibility; to love; to God; and to yourself.
The Year 3/4s, as a part of Home Learning were asked to draw a picture of Mary Our Mother, I asked Lara to share her beautiful sketch. She really captures the warmth, caring and love of a parent, doing all they can to protect and nurture the gift of life given to their child.
Take care and keep safe
