Kitchen Update
Due to current restrictions we are unable to hold our Mudbrick Café next week.
Please keep an eye on our newsletter and Facebook page for future information.
It was great to have our students back in the kitchen last week. Students continued to source recipes for their challenge box. We look forward to making them and sharing them in the coming weeks.
Students in grade 5/6 have also been asked to find a course, whether it be entrée, main or dessert to prepare and cook for their luncheon. The luncheon will be their last session in the kitchen for the year. It gives the students the opportunity to source, prepare and deliver a 3 course meal. Through this task they culminate their learning along with time management and selecting foods that complement each other. Perhaps they may ask you to share a recipe that is a family favourite?
Last week the students made a delicious pea, ricotta and fresh lemon pasta. They also made a sweet salad to accompany it. Using items from the pantry of their choice they made a tasty passionfruit dressing.
Miss Whyte’s class was very excited to have their first session in the kitchen. They created their own wraps using a selection of ingredients they had prepared. It was great to see many students try new foods for the first time. Next time you are having wraps ask them to assist. By allowing them to assist it also helps them to consolidate the skills they are learning through the program.

Garden Update
We have been very lucky with the weather and worked hard to complete various jobs in the garden over the last 2 weeks. During our sessions Jake and Sebastian fixed the orange fence, Hannah and Madi planted a cluster of blue bells to add some colour in the garden, Archer and Cohen added to the bonfire and Blake and Maeva took care of the chickens.
The 5/6’s had a go at making concrete casts of their handprints. We will place them out in the garden in the coming weeks and they will remain as a symbol of their contribution, long after the 5/6 students finish up in the garden. Thanks to Steph and Jake for setting up and running the share table, it was a mad dash to bring the equipment back to the shed before the bad weather come through!
