Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

 Year One and Two Discovery

What Matter’s?  This has been the question our Year One and Year Two students have been thinking about during our Discovery learning this term.  As a team of learners, we have investigated ways to become more sustainable.  In celebration of out learning today at school we made Healthy Vegetable Soup.  The students took over the kitchen in the staff room and in true Master chef style learnt how to peel, chop and dice a variety of vegetables.  A big pot with stock and a large spoon full of tomato paste completed the preparations.  After hours of slow cooking our large pot of healthy delicious goodness was consumed with a side of fresh bread and homemade butter.

The students have learnt that eating simple wholesome foods is always best.  Not only for themselves but also for our precious environment. (Of course, no plastic plates and cutlery were anywhere in sight.)

Today we cooked an amazing soup! We put some onion, celery, carrots and water in the pot. Tomorrow we will eat the soup. Hopefully it won’t be bad. Harviniah 2P

On Thursday 17th June, Year 1 and 2 students celebrated their Discovery learning on ‘What Matters’. In the morning the students helped to prepare and record the procedure of how to make vegetable soup. Then the students helped to clean up the school grounds and visited the vegetable garden to harvest the vegetables they had planted earlier in the term. After their hard work, the students enjoyed the vegetable soup, butter and bread.
