World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly

Pope Francis has announced there will be a World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. This will be celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July, the feast day of Blessed Mary’s parents and Jesus’ grandparents Sts. Joachim and Anne.  This year on the 25th July, we acknowledged and honoured the gifts and wisdom of old age and pray for continued blessings on our older generations.

NAIDOC WEEK

During the school holidays (4-11 July) NAIDOC week was celebrated throughout the country.  The theme this year was ‘Heal Country’ and in these changing and unpredictable times with the COVID Pandemic, flooding across Europe, landslides in Asia, the message of our indigenous brothers and sisters is of vital importance not only in Australia but for the world.

We Pray…

May the Ancient Dreaming inform and inspire us

The resilience and generosity of the First Peoples encourage us

The clarity and respect of the Prophets motivate us

The endurance and colour of the land sustain us

The yearning of all peoples for unity reconcile us and may we hear the Living God say

“I am here among you”. (Act, Love, Walk, 2014)

May all Australians walk together seeking healing, ensure the dignity of all and protect and love all Australian people and it’s country.

Amen

Eid al-Adha

We hope everyone who commemorated Eid al-Adha had a blessed and Holy celebration.

Co-vid Prayer

God of all life…

May your love and light shine in and through me today

In a way that no mask can hide.

May my eyes dance with the laughter and joy.

Replacing my hidden smile.

May my actions of care and concern.

Speak louder than my muffled voice ever could.

And may the generosity of my heart

Radiate out through who I am

And how I respond to the world around me

So that others may not see my mask

But your image shining out

Moving in and through me today.

Amen
