Design and Technologies

Textiles students in the Design and Technology Domain has been very busy this term.  In all classes, we have supported and guided the students as they learnt to create with increasingly more sophisticated use of the technology at hand.

Year 7 students have looked at the sustainability issues with single use plastic bags and have produced personalized shopping totes.   Learning how to trouble-shoot the sewing machines and becoming more confident with the working parts has allowed them to discover how to make products that can improve the society that they live in.

Year 9 Fashion and Creative Textiles students have experimented with embellishment techniques to enable them to produce products that tell a story and answer to their Design Briefs.

Year 10 students have focused on Sustainability issues and explored various techniques of Technology.  They remade and upcycled an existing old garment and found new life for it.

Year 11 students were busy looking at fashion trends and learning how to develop their design skills with a focus on Country Road.

Year 12 students have forged ahead with experimenting with many new techniques of design and embellishments for their individual designs.  Their trials on how materials respond and how their chosen styles work with their materials has set them up for a busy Term 3 of production.

Please come to the Art Show exhibition in Term 4 on 17 October to see all their dedicated hard work and talent shine.
