5/6 Wellbeing

In 5/6 we explored positive self-talk and the impact it has on our wellbeing. We read a story about Lan who didn’t have a very good day. Some of our positive self-talk statements include:

  • ‘I’ll do better tomorrow’
  • ‘At least I tried’
  • ‘Next time I’ll try harder’
  • ‘I tried my hardest in maths and that’s alright’

We also explored what influences us in society. We found that we were influenced by our parents and friends, YouTube and the fear of missing out. We are going to explore this further in the coming weeks in our ‘How we express ourselves’ unit of inquiry.

3/4 Wellbeing

The first week of Term 3 has been great. We have focused on reconnecting with our friends and thinking about the big wellbeing concepts of:

  • Friendship
  • Gratitude
  • Problem solving

We read ‘Fox’, which we will be using as a mentor text to improve our writing, and responded to the text considering loneliness, connection, resilience and trust.

We also created artifacts to represent our holiday. Our classmates had to guess what we had done on the holiday based on our drawn artifact.

My artifact was ice skates because I went ice-skating with my mum and my auntie on the holidays. I thought this would represent ice-skating because you’re on ice and you use the special skates to move around. I enjoyed it alot and we got to eat in special igloos. It was a really special day out. I got my face painted and it was lots of fun. - Zara Dubois.

My artifact was my beanie. I chose this because I really like it and it is probably one of my best beanies that I own. I also like it because it had come from Sydney and I haven’t been there for a while. My grandpa bought it for me and I left it behind when we went to visit him. I wore it alot and it made me warm when I had to take my dog for a walk. Sometimes when I go to the skate park I wear it under my helmet! By Allegra Marshall

I drew a picture of a violin for my artifact because my parents took me and my brother to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on the holidays. It was definitely not expected. It was a wonderful surprise. The music was lovely and my favourite part was seeing a man play the violin because it reminded me of my friend Fede. When people were trying to guess how my artifact connected to my holiday, they thought that I had learnt to play the violin! By Amelia Catalfamo
