PRAYER

May God the Father who made us bless us.

May God the Son send his healing among us.

May God the Holy Spirit move within us and give us eyes to see with, ears to hear with, and hands that your work might be done.

May we walk and preach the word of God to all.

May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us at last by God’s grace to the Kingdom.

Amen.

We pray ...

We pray for...  all who are recovering from illness, and for all the people in our world who may be experiencing the loss of a loved one, anxiety, depression or grief.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY WEEK

Bishop Michael Kennedy has designated Week 3 as Marriage and Family Week for the Armidale Diocese. The week includes the celebration of the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne on Monday 26th July. The theme for Marriage and Family Week is 'The Family: I am with you always'

The quotation used as the theme for 2021’s Marriage and Family Week, “I am with you always”, is found in Jesus’ “Great Commission” to his apostles and to all his followers, including us. We find it at the very end of Matthew’s gospel; “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28;18-20)

Having commanded us to act, Jesus reassures us that we are not alone and that we will never be alone. Jesus doesn’t present us with a clear plan of how we are to lead people to wish to be disciples. Recent decades have seen the Church’s understanding of mission change. The Church knows that one of the most important things it can do is to accompany people in the realities of their everyday lives (Marriage and Family Booklet 2021 - CSO Armidale).
