Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, Catholic communities across the world are celebrating Marriage and Families Week. It is celebrated in the week of the Feast Day of Sts Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary and the grandparents of Jesus. This is a time of the year where we would normally host our grandparents and families to show thanks for all your support in our lives. Unfortunately, this is not the case in 2021, however our students will participate in a special prayer tomorrow to celebrate this important week in the Church's calendar.

This Wednesday is our annual Athletics Carnival. Students may choose to dress up in the colours of their sports house - blue for Namoi and yellow for Cox - for the day. Fingers crossed that the weather forecast looks good, however please ensure your child has a jumper, water bottle and a hat. We will depart for Jubilee Oval as soon as the morning rolls are taken and races should commence at approximately 9.20am. We will return to school in time for normal pick up procedures. Given the current restrictions in place, we will try to get as many photos and videos as possible of children competing in events. There will be a canteen in operation for snacks and children can order a sausage sandwich ($2.50) for lunch - which should be in by tomorrow at the latest for catering purposes (just like a normal lunch order).

This Thursday, we are celebrating the Olympics with a special Sacred Heart Olympics event at school in the afternoon. Each student has been allocated a country and will participate in a range of physical and academic events for their adopted team. To get into the spirit of the event, children are invited to attend school on Thursday in the colours of their country. The teams and colours can be found in the "Sports" section of this newsletter. Please note - if your child does not have any clothing in their country's colours, please do not purchase anything specifically for this day. We have some spare clothing at school, and we will be making some coloured accessories to wear on the day as well.

Special mention to Brayden Dickens who celebrates his 6th birthday today. We hope he enjoys his special day!

Have a great week!

Nick
